This policy explains how PlutoHome (“we”, “us”), a trading brand of Digital Edge Solutions, collects and uses your personal data when you request a home-energy quote or use our tools and calculators. We are the data controller for the information you give us. We take your privacy seriously and only ever collect what we need to match you with a suitable installer.
The short version
When you ask for a quote, we pass your enquiry to one MCS-certified installer who covers your area so they can contact you. We do not sell your details to lead marketplaces, and we do not pass them to multiple companies. Our lawful basis is your consent, and you can withdraw it at any time.
What we collect
Depending on how you use the site, we may collect:
- Contact details — your name, email address and phone number.
- Project details — your postcode, property type, roof/suitability information, timescale, rough budget and the services you are interested in (solar, battery, heat pump or commercial solar).
- Technical data — anonymous analytics such as pages viewed and approximate region, collected via cookies (see below).
We do not knowingly collect special-category data, and we do not ask for financial details, bank details or ID documents. Please do not send those to us.
Why we use it and our lawful basis
- To match you with an installer — lawful basis: consent, which you give when you submit an enquiry form.
- To respond to questions you send us — lawful basis: legitimate interests (replying to your enquiry).
- To measure and improve the site — lawful basis: consent for analytics cookies.
Who we share it with
We share your enquiry with a single MCS-certified installer that covers your postcode, so they can prepare your quote and contact you. That installer becomes an independent controller of the details we pass to them and will handle your data under their own privacy policy. We also use trusted processors who act on our instructions:
- Form and email delivery — to receive and route your enquiry to us at [email protected].
- Hosting and content delivery — Vercel and Cloudflare, to serve the website securely.
- Analytics — Google Analytics, to understand how the site is used.
We never sell your personal data. We only disclose it otherwise if required by law.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiry details for up to 12 months so we can handle follow-up questions and resolve any dispute about a quote, after which we delete or anonymise them. Analytics data is retained for up to 14 months.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to:
- access the personal data we hold about you;
- ask us to correct anything that is wrong;
- ask us to erase your data;
- object to or restrict how we use it;
- withdraw your consent at any time;
- ask for your data in a portable format.
To exercise any of these, email [email protected] and we will respond within one month. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
Cookies
We use a small number of cookies. Strictly necessary cookies keep the site working. Analytics cookies (Google Analytics) are optional and only help us count visits and improve the pages — they do not identify you personally. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time; the site will still work.
